Fairytale Tag

I got tagged for the first time by my beautiful housemate and friend Amy, and I'm very glad she's made me write another blog post! Life, uni and work just keep on getting in the way and I've been very neglectful.

Snow White - Do you consider yourself beautiful?
No, if I'm honest. Everyone is hyper-critical of themselves. I do think I'm strong, determined and loyal, which hopefully are traits more valuable than looks. My mum and my boyfriend think I'm beautiful though, and they matter most to me.

Sleeping Beauty - How many hours do you sleep at night?
SLEEP OHMYGOD. Not enough that's for sure. My brain never shuts up, but I now have a whole sleep kit including meditation books, herbal tablets and special tea. One day I will not feel tired and it will be marvellous I tell you.

Cinderella - Do you have a curfew?
Nope, I am a fully fledged adult now.

Rapunzel - Do you love being outside?

I do like to be beside the seaside. And I like running and woodland walks. So yes, yes I do. Thanks for asking.

Red Riding Hood - Do you trust strangers easily?
Strangers? No, I don't want to get kidnapped, but I do find it pretty easy to talk to anyone. That's different to trust though. I don't think you can trust a stranger.

The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids - Are you easily fooled?
Yeah probably, more fool me.

Beauty and the Beast - What makes someone beautiful in your eyes?
Someone who is passionate and excited by life

The Little Mermaid - What would you sacrifice for love?
Many hours of my life to the megabus.

The Frog Prince - What do you find disgusting?
Other people's hair in the shower. I'm literally cringing whilst writing this. Ew.

Jack and the Beanstalk - Do you have any plants?

No, they would almost definitely die...Me and my brother once had a venus fly trap but we tried to make it eat raisins and it died. Clearly neither of us are cut out to be parents.

Puss in Boots - Do you have pets? If not, do you want them?
Yes, at home I have two cats, Oscar and Bert and they are sho cute. I loveeee them. One day I'm going to have a pug because I nearly pass out with excitement every time I see one.

Bluebeard - What is your weak point?
I put huge amounts of pressure on myself. I also am a control freak and take on too much.

Pinocchio - What is your biggest wish?
My main wish is that I will figure out what I want in life and I will be successful and happy. That feels like a lot to ask for sometimes.

Peter Pan - What is your mental age?
Ooh I don't know. Sometimes I feel older than I am, but the other day my seminar tutor said my mind was in the gutter when I laughed at him saying he needed to suck on something to stop coughing. COME ON THAT'S FUNNY.

The Star Money - What is your most valuable possession?
Photographs of me and my dad, along with a locket I got for my 18th birthday.

Gold Mary & Pitch Mary - Are you a hard worker or a lazy one?
Hard worker.

The Snow Queen - Who is your best friend? What would you do for them?

I feel like I am lucky and have lots of close friends. I'd bake them cakes and go to the end of the world for them. If I wasn't busy.

The Princess and the Pea - Are you sensitive?
Sensitive? I don't know. I'm definitely emotional. If I'm sad, or stressed I'll cry, if I'm angry I'll shout. Sometimes I'll just have a strop.

Godfather Death - What qualities make a good parent?
Endless patience and some tough love. Fanks mum.

The Twelve Dancing Princesses / The Worn-Out Dancing Shoes - Do you like parties?
Yes. Even more so if they're fancy dress.

The Emperor's New Clothes - Do you care a lot about your clothing?
Yeah I get well stroppy when I can't find something to wear.

The Brave Little Tailor - Do you consider yourself brave?

I'm the only person at home who is not scared of spiders. Including my 6 foot 16 year old brother. I'm freakin' fearless mate.

A Beautiful Day

January is the worst month of the year, for sure. Exams, post-Christmas blues and wintery weather just makes everything feel so much hard work!
After not seeing each other for three and a half weeks, Lewis and I had a gap between exams and uni starting in which we stayed together, watched many Disney films and he cooked me dinners. It was rather wonderful.
One thing we love to do is day trips, and in particular National Trust day trips. (Because yes, we're actually middle aged). On Saturday, we ventured out to Bodiam Castle in East Sussex and it was awesome

I wore a Primark pinafore, new Topshop boots (they were in the sale, honest!), and a Zara parka coat.

Jumping on the Bandwagon

Just in case you hadn't got bored of bloggers writing about their 2013, I thought I better get in there and write a post about my year. It's been a good'un.

I kicked off the year as a true lightweight, getting too drunk to want to go to town on NYE so tottered home as all my friends headed out. I watched the countdown on tv with the family (oh yes, it was before midnight) and then went to bed. 2014 come at me.

I then returned to Brighton to begin my second semester of the first year of uni (the shout of "down it fresher!" will be forever engraved into my memory). It snowed in Brighton and in true Southern style everyone lost their sh*t.
February was the month in which I moved into a new flat, with Amy. Cue nights of tv watching, tea drinking, nail painting, a few of crying and many, many heart to hearts. She da best.

It also brought my 19th birthday, which I couldn't have celebrated in such style without a visit from the one and only Ellie. I was spoilt by my bests Amy and Amy and lots of cake was consumed. I also managed to drop my bank card and ID outside my flat, which were returned to me by the lovely Zoe, who nearly a year on is one of my firm favourites.

In May I met Lewis, basically the best thing that happened to me.

Summer 2013 was a beautiful thing. I went to Cornwall and Prague and Issy and I saw the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park. Oh. My. God. What a wonderful day. It was worth every penny! Ruth and I returned to WOMAD to volunteer, another fantastic weekend with really amazing people. Unfortunately, summer ended with a low point of my year; getting sent to hospital with a kidney infection and having to miss the Great North Run. It really sucked, but at least my kidneys are back to normal now.

The start of my second year of uni has been tougher. But it's also had it's ups. I've met some great new people, made better friends with others and in October, A Rosie Tinted Life was born! All credit must be given to Amy for encouraging me and being my blogging inspiration and trouble-shooter.

2013, you were good to me.
Lots of love and a happy new year!

Christmas Make Up

I've always been a foundation-mascara-eyeliner kind of girl, but recently I've been branching out a bit and experimenting with some sparkley Christmas themed eye make up. Here's what I did and what I used:

I started off with foundation all over, then applied Benefit Boing eye primer all over my lid, into the corner and onto the lower lash line.

I then used Max Factor Smokey Eye Effect eyeshadow in purple dust all over my eyelid and blended up on the the bone.

My final steps were to add gold dust eyeshadow by GOSH all over and blend across the outer corners of my eyes, and add mascara and eyeliner.

What are you wearing for the festive season?
Lots of love,
Rosie x
ps. I don't have a reply button on my blog... does anyone know how I can fix this? Sorry for not replying to comments!

Welcome to the Roaring Twenties

Last week my housemate turned 20 and the obvious way to celebrate was with a party. And as we're all fancy dress fanatics here, it was 1920s themed. I found a bargain vintage dress from Dirty Harry and now I'm searching for more excuses to wear it! All my accessories are from Primark.
